Kylee DeBock / DeBock Harvesting
I can hardly believe we have been on the road for a month already.
The kids got out of school on May 19th and we left Powers Lake on the 20th headed to Alva, Oklahoma.
Of course, it was hurry up and wait. There were crews already cutting so we were in a rush to get there. We unloaded and started cutting only to get rained out and sit for a few days.

Since we traded combines, we just had them delivered to Oklahoma. So, because we didn’t have them at home to “ready”, we still had some things to do to them. Therefore, the rain delay was good for us.
We needed to put in our two-way radios, antennas and the PipeAg System (we use this for our invoicing, IFTA reports, and farmer information). The boys equipped the combines with American flags this year too!

Oklahoma has been in a drought, so the rain was welcome!
However, we had MULTIPLE rain delays this year. It took us eight days to cut a 300 acre field. There were two days we waited at the field all day sampling every few hours and finally get started at 5:30 PM just to get rained out at 8:00 PM!

Rain delays also allowed us to catch-up with friends and family while we are in Oklahoma. The boys stayed a few nights with their buddies and went fishing, swimming, four-wheeler riding and enjoyed a bonfire. They work so hard all summer so I am glad they got a few days to just be teenagers.

We also got to go to the Woodward, Oklahoma’s Elks PRCA Rodeo and concert.

Our Oklahoma acre numbers were down this year due to the drought but God always provides and we were able to pick up a few extra jobs.
We have finished in Oklahoma now and have moved to St Francis, Kansas.
God Bless,
Kylee DeBock
