Tonya Land – Jackson County, Florida
“You have got to get rid of the ghost of Hurricane Michael!”, our boss’ girlfriend says.
And we all agreed that, yes, it had to be done.
It took the form of flapping tin in the wind on one of the soon to be demolished barns and it can drive anyone crazy. So we worked the last couple of weeks on scrapping even more of the barns, filling three 30’ long dumpsters with metal and salvaging as much lumber as the destruction allowed.
The catch pens are shaping up and almost all the post are set. Little by little, bit by bit the farm we work at is being rebuilt.
But we realized that all that does not make a farm.
A farm is only possible by the people that work towards its success. That bring to fruit a crop, despite the struggle that we faced this year. (And we are still working towards getting it finished.)
I’m grateful to God for being a part of and able to farm with such a caring and supportive community.
