Kristy Misener – Misener Family Harvesters
Life is full of challenges!
Dan and I are experiencing what so many harvesters and their farmers are this year: no wheat. The drought, late freeze, fires, and the early hot wind have decimated the wheat here in western Oklahoma.
As we traveled home from the HarvestHER retreat, we got the opportunity to see, firsthand, some of the burned areas. It was unbelievable!! No photo can properly show the devastation. Things were burned down to bare dirt!!
Look very closely and you will see new growth just beginning to appear through the ashes! This was near Vici, Oklahoma.
Dan is out visually inspecting area fields today. Our farmer in Sentinel, Oklahoma is hoping for a bit of seed wheat only. The rest of the wheat is finished. Unfortunately, there will be no combining here.
Sentinel, Oklahoma Wheatfield.
Sentinel, Oklahoma head of wheat.
With very little to no chance of recovery, this Sentinel, Oklahoma wheatfield was “zeroed” it out and put out of its misery.
