Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting Inc.
EPIC fail! But…eatable.
Supper doesn’t necessarily happen at the same time every night. With the weather being warmer and the sun out later, the days are longer and more productive. This is just another part of what we do.
If it’s planting or harvesting the fields, the meals aren’t always on time, hot or ready when they are. I, however, tend to challenge myself to be ready in a moment (okay…more like 20 minutes). 😉
The men are very good eaters and tolerant of my “mishaps”. Yes, I do have them…more than I used to be willing to admit…but now they simply don’t bother me as I know my time throughout the day is as valuable as anyone.
So, long story short, I had meatballs and mashed potatoes on the menu…(check it out). How easy to keep those warm and ready within an hour of everyone arriving or needing supper. Right? Well, two of the guys were leaving this evening in the trucks and I decided the potatoes were done enough (with a fork) to mash so they could eat. Once I started mashing them, however, I knew instantly it was going to be an EPIC fail. So, I added a little extra butter and kept mixing and told them, “Ain’t nothing wrong with a few lumps!”
They ate their plates full and joked about losing a tooth but when they took their plates to the sink they were clean!
So you see, hard work creates hunger and if you’re good and hungry, lumpy homemade mashed potatoes smothered in gravy with a few meatballs go down just fine!
Leftovers on the menu for tomorrow…not including the potatoes. 🤣
And so it goes…
