Kylee DeBock / DeBock Harvesting

Summer has officially ended for the boys. They started back to school on August 19th. Colston is a Junior and Riggin is in 8th grade!  We are now just a crew of four, instead of six.  Thus far, it’s working out pretty good.

Back to school

We finished up in Montana the first week of August and headed home with our first load of equipment on August 5th. We unloaded equipment and headed to dinner at the local restaurant for a good meal.

Travel Days

Once home, we cleaned our things out of the camper so we could go set it up at the RV park for Dennis and Carter.

We went on a little wheat tour around Powers Lake after supper.

Dinner time

Our wheat was looking really good but it needed about 5-6 more days before it was ready to cut.

Hip- high beautiful wheat

On August 6th, Riggin was able to go to a football camp and reunite with his buddies! They hadn’t seen each other since the last day of school in May.  The varsity players help out with the camp so Colston went and Carter tagged along.

Dennis, Dillon and I headed back to Montana for equipment load number two. We hadn’t settled up with any of our farmers so we made arrangements to do that in the evening.

Renae invited us to supper and spoiled us, yet again, with an amazing meal. We spent the night with Brandon and Chelsea that night.

On August 7th, we loaded up the grain cart and hooked up the double grain trailers and headed HOME, HOME!

Colston had his first football practice that day and we were home by 5:30. After unloading the equipment, we just headed home for a relaxing evening!

Around 7:30 that night, a hail storm came through with ping pong sized hail. It took out all 500 acres of our wheat crop. It was so devastating to get up the next morning and see our beautiful wheat field pounded to the ground!! 💔

Wheat after the hail storm

We do have crops in another town which were not affected. We also had crop insurance. So, it could have been worse!

The wheat crop was the first crop we planted in April. Since it got hailed out, we had a few days off because there wasn’t anything else ready.

We found things to keep us busy until the peas were ready to cut which wasn’t until August 13th. We rode horses several times and the boys did maintenance on equipment. I worked in my flower beds and mowed the lawn.

Horse riding fun

Once the peas were done, we moved on to some barley and durum for a farmer. When this was completed, we were able to harvest our own durum! We ran into green crops so we had a few days off before jumping back into some durum for another farmer.

Morning servicing

So, we are staying busy, yet again.

Football season is underway as Colston had his first game last week and Riggin will have his first game on August 30th. ❤️🏈❤️

Football season has begun ❤️🏈❤️

Go outlaws!!

God Bless,
