Jill Burkhardt – Crooked Lake Farm
A quick update from Alberta:
We’ve been in a drought until mid-July, then the rain clouds came and haven’t really stopped (it’s raining currently, too). Our first cut hay crops were below average for our area—averaged a bale/acre. Because we had decent spring snows, most pastures are okay, although some folks who haven’t managed well in years past (overstocked) are hurting now.

Our crops are progressing fast and we’ll probably be harvesting sooner than later.
Have a safe and happy harvest!
