Kylee DeBock / DeBock Harvesting

We are trading our combines this year and decided spring break would be a great time to take them to Oklahoma.

Since we were going to be in Oklahoma, we decided to make a little vacation out of the “work trip”.

After dropping off the combines in Fairview, we spent two nights with Dillon’s parents and the kids had some time to see their Oklahoma friends.

It worked out perfectly that the Gleaner combine clinic was going to be held the same week, so we made arrangements to attend the two-day clinic in Hesston, Kansas.  The boys were able to learn the new operating system of our S98 combines via a combine simulator. They also got the opportunity to drive the new T series Gleaner Combine.  They really enjoyed that.

From Hesston, we drove to my parents in Welch, Oklahoma and spent one night there before heading to Branson, Missouri for our family vacation.

What a fantastic time it was! We rented a HUGE house so that all 18 guests were comfortable. It included a pool table, a Pac-Man arcade game, darts, and a foosball table.

We had my parents, my sister, Kassi, and her family, Dillon’s parents and his brother, Casey, and his family.  There were days that we all did different things; however, one night, we all went to the Dolly Parton Stampede.

The kids had a great time and great memories were made by all!

For Christmas, Dillon and I purchased the boys’ new bedroom furniture in Joplin, Missouri. This was the perfect time to pick it up!

We picked up a U-Haul trailer, loaded the furniture and off we went back to Northwest Oklahoma to pick up the semis and then head back towards North Dakota.  However, my car had other plans. It broke down in Enid and, of course, it was 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon so we had to act fast.

Fortunately, Enid had a U-Haul dealer, as well. We called in hopes of renting a truck and then would turn in the previously rented trailer. Unfortunately, the only box truck they had was too small to fit all the furniture. So, we decided to go ahead and rent the truck and use it to pull the trailer filled with furniture home.

I have AAA so we called for a tow truck to take my car to the Chevy dealership and left my car in Oklahoma.  A few days after getting home, the shop called to inform us that the eternal fuel pump had gone out. So, at least nothing major!

It finally happened!

We got moved into our NEW HOME over Easter break!  Some people found out that we had started moving on Friday and on Saturday morning there were multiple people at the rent house with pickups and trailers to help us. What a fantastic community we moved to!

It was amazing having so much help! With their help, they had us moved out of the rent house in less than four hours.  Everything was just put in the living room of the new house so it was a little overwhelming but we were so grateful for the help.

Moving in

We spent the next few days unpacking boxes and putting everything away. I have never had so much space!

I still have empty cabinets and drawers.  We have hung a few things on the walls in some rooms but we are taking our time on that part!  The boys love the basement and have made it their own.  They bought a sectional couch and a 75-inch TV. I would say the “Man Cave” is well underway!

We have all LOVED having our own space again and we look forward to making many wonderful memories in our new home.

The garage materials are on site and the contractor will be starting this weekend!  Dillon hauled in a few loads of rock to help level the garage floor and the boys have been helping with that after school.

We have all had the opportunity to help build our home in some way and that makes it even more special!

We are staying busy with Riggin’s track meets, FFA banquet (Colston was the President), Colston’s Junior Prom (he drove our old black service truck) and Vocal concerts.  The end of the school year is always busy with so many different activities! Sometimes, it feels as though you meet yourself coming and going!

In other news, we started seeding on April 29th. We are finished with the spring wheat fields. We have had some windy and cold temps so Dillon wanted to wait till it warmed up a bit before planting the canola.

So, Dillon’s been doing some projects around the outside of the house to use his time as we wait for the weather to straighten up.

Harvest is FAST approaching and I will be starting to get the camper ready to go soon.

It will be a little more difficult to move into our camper this year since we just moved into our new home.  But summer always goes quickly and we will be back home before we know it and it will be exciting moving back in!

Oklahoma and Kansas are experiencing a bad drought this year. The wheat acres are looking a little thin not just in the areas we cut but everywhere.

Harvest is always a stressful time but God ALWAYS provides for us and meets our needs abundantly. You would think, after all these years, I would not stress so much over things I cannot control.  God is good ALL the time and ALL the time, God is GOOD!

Colston now has his CDL!!

Some harvesters are already on the road and I pray that everyone has a safe harvest season.  I hope you will follow our journey on Facebook and Instagram as we make our way south to start our harvest run in Oklahoma and work our way back home to North Dakota.

God Bless,

Kylee DeBock
