Kristy Misener – Misener Family Harvesters
One of the benefits of my summer is spending a different kind of time with my lovies.
Since my son Dan and I live together, we normally spend our days together with whatever project is on for that day. This season is way different! He’s gone and I’m home. Well, sort of. I’ve followed him to Kansas, spending time in my camper in Emma’s yard. Dan and I talk every day, plans and happenings, thoughts and stories. That part of my day with him is so enjoyable. I really like him!! He’s funny, interesting, insightful. I’ve gotten to spend the day in the field with him, too.
And I’ve gotten to spend time with our good friend, Kent. He is such a quality person: dedicated to his work, family, and doing things right, but honest with himself and others if he thinks he messed up.
Time here at Emma’s is a treat too! We spend everyday doing something important: visiting while working. We’re cleaning out old houses, did yard work too. We had sewing lessons and mended nine pairs of jeans for Evan, her hubby, and two for Kent. And we’ve gone to town just to go to thrift stores. DAV stores are the best!! We found lovely CHEAP treasures. And a whole new wardrobe for my little (well, not so little, she’s twelve) granddaughter, Elizabeth.
I have a renewed appreciation for Emma: she’s so open and shares so freely her thoughts and experiences. What a gift! Evan is a delight: he works hard! loves Emma fiercely and protectively and has such a fine integrity – it’s simply refreshing.
And then there’s Elizabeth. She’s such a delight. She’s growing up too quickly, but is a sweet, caring girl. We’ve had many good talks!!
Marvelous gifts from all of them. God bless them all!!
