Kylee DeBock/DeBock Harvesting

We are two weeks into harvest and, since we’ve started, we haven’t gone to bed in the same day we woke up in!

Cutting in Alva, Oklahoma

It’s pretty early in the season but we are wore out! However, we just got rain early this morning which was enough to know we won’t cut today. So, we enjoyed sleeping in just a bit and getting a few more things done around our house while we are still close.

We finished cutting in Waynoka, Oklahoma just in time to beat the rain. So our “day off” will consist of moving equipment and campers to Mooreland so we can start fresh when the sun comes out.

While we were cutting in Alva, we had a back tire come off our combine! I praise God that it happened in the field going 3 mph and not moving fields going 20 mph. (There can always be a silver lining to breakdowns.) I went on a six-hour parts run to Kansas and when I got back, Dillon and I had it put back together in about two hours…minus the tires.  We ran out of daylight so they put those on the next morning.

With harvest starting a week later then usual, we were behind before we got started. A lot of our farmers are ready at once. We still have at least a week’s worth of cutting in Oklahoma and our Kansas farmers are ready for us already too.

All we can do is get as many people done as we can and hope that the weather will cooperate with us so we can keep moving forward.

We celebrated Father’s Day in the field, as usual, so no fun cookout for Dillon. However, he got to do what he loves with his kids and that made for a pretty special day!

God Bless,
