I looked in the freezer and saw three packages of chopped steak so decided that’s what’s for supper! Not a usual for us but figured it was time to try something in the Crock Pot, as it is chilly here.
I found a recipe that looked easy…simply brown steaks, after dusting with flour, and then add to the Crock Pot.
All went well until I realized, I didn’t have tomatoes or garlic (one of the hazards of keeping cupboards low in three different spots – a house and two campers).
So in my “let’s try” mood, I used marinara sauce in the jar. I also didn’t have several of the spices the recipe called for but had the soy sauce…so needless to say, this is how it turned out:
I dusted my chopped steaks in Panko breadcrumbs and flour, then browned in oil in a skillet. Seasoned with salt, pepper and a little bit of Nature’s Seasoning. I layered sliced onion and a sliced pepper between them and topped off with 12 oz. of marinara sauce and 3 tablespoons of soy sauce. Cooked in the Crock Pot for three hours on high and then three hours on simmer. Also, added the remainder of the jar of marinara and a little more water. Served over noodles.
So tender!
They ate it all up!
