Hi, everyone! I’m Randi Beckley, from Beckley Harvesting in Colby, KS. My husband, Jake, and I have been married 7 years, making this our 8th harvest season together; we have three kids, Grace (5), Claire (3), and Michael (2).
My kids have never known anything different than living on the road during summers, and Grace even asked me one time what my trailer house looked like when I was a little girl. Harvest is all they’ve ever known, as they are part of the 4th generation of Beckley harvesters.
I, on the other hand, have only recently begun to get used to the harvest lifestyle that so many of you fellow ladies live. This week I will be chronicling my journey as a harvester’s wife, raising children in a trailer house, cooking for a harvest crew, and dealing with the Southern heat, just like the rest of you here on HarvestHer.
I’ll also be sharing some of my favorite recipes along the way, because while I can’t drive a machine to save my life, I can make a darned good chocolate chip cookie. Life’s all about balance, right?
