Hey Everyone!
My name’s Jess and I’m super excited to share with you my harvest tales and updates from around the world!
I was born and raised near the small town of Riverton, on the south coast of New Zealand. I got my start in tractor driving while operating the swather rake for my parent’s silage contracting business and aside from a stint at University, I haven’t looked back.
I took part in my first grain harvest the summer of 2015 on a small sheep, beef, and arable farm in the West Midlands of the UK. Since then, I’ve done another harvest in the UK, as well as one in Western Australia (WA), and am currently there again for the seeding/planting season.
In between seasons, I still work with my parents chopping silage – as well as doing other seasonal work and occasionally even using my degree in medical laboratory science!
During harvest, my main role is driving the chaser bin (or grain cart) and during the seeding season, I do the day shift running the air seeder.
I’m super fortunate that I’ve been able to combine my love of agriculture with travel and it’s pretty amazing to be able to meet HarvestHERs from different parts of the world
