Fourteen Years Down and a Lifetime to Go!

Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting

Today is our 14th wedding anniversary!

As I look back over the years, I can’t help but have a smile on my face.

I fell in love with an 18-year-old cowboy that swept me off my feet when he asked me to dance at the Oklahoma High School rodeo prom in May 2001! The prom is the first event held for the four-day long weekend.  I was able to get to know Dillon and meet his family. It was a weekend to remember and we all had a lot of fun! I remember pulling out of the driveway from the Chisholm Trail Expo Center in Enid and my mom telling me that she really liked this young man and that “she bet I would marry him”. MOMS ALWAYS KNOW BEST!!

On October 23, 2004, I married a 21-year-old harvester.  I grew up in the country, my family rodeoed and we girls showed animals (I have three sisters) but that was as far as it went. When I married Dillon, I could not drive a stick shift; now, I have my CDL! The combines and tractors were like foreign objects to me. I had never seen anything like them, let alone drive them. But now I am just as comfortable behind the wheel of all of our equipment as I am driving a pickup. Harvest is something I knew NOTHING about but have come to LOVE! I understand the saying now, “it’s in their blood”! I am grateful for the life lessons and experience that being a harvester’s wife have taught me. But mostly, I am thankful for the AMAZING people and families we have met along the way!

On March 5th, 2008, I fell in love again (even more deeply than ever before) as I watched my husband become a dad! His rough, hardworking hands being ever so gentle with Colston.  He was so proud of his son and, even after a long day, loved sitting in his chair and rocking him to sleep at night.

In February 2010, we purchased our first home.  Over the years, we had been renting or living in our camper so we were so excited to have a place of our own. We have worked hard over the past eight years to make improvements and updates to the land, house and shop. Dillon even built me a brand new horse barn in 2014.  There is a lot of LOVE and memories in our home.

On January 5th, 2012, our family was complete (unless God has a sense of humor)! Riggin was the missing puzzle piece! Colston was almost four when Riggin was born and was so excited to have a sibling. However, Colston wanted a sister! I wish we would have videotaped his reaction when we told him he had a brother (we didn’t find out the gender). He put his hands on his hips and said, “You are kidding me, right?” But once they met, he fell in love too.

Today is October 23, 2018 and my life is just as I had hoped…according to my senior paper:
Where do you want to be in 20 years? My answer, “Married to the love of my life, with two kids, living somewhere other than Welch!”

NAILED IT!

Dillon DeBock, thank you for loving me through it all! I am grateful for the loving and healthy marriage relationship that we have shown our children through the years!  I pray they find a woman who will love them as fiercely as I love you. As well as them loving and adoring their wife as you do me!!

Happy Anniversary my love,
Kylee
