Feeling Domestic Never Felt So Good

Amanda Buus Thomsen – BT Harvesting

For several years, I’ve boycotted buying pre-made taco seasoning and opted to make it myself (I’m kind of cheap like that since I already had all the seasoning for it).

I always just mixed it as I needed it, which is tedious and takes a little time. So today, I mixed up a large batch to keep in a pint size wide-mouth mason jar.

It was pretty easy and, really, the hardest part was doing the math to get the proportions right.

Cast of characters

10 TBSP Chili Powder
5 tsp Garlic Powder
3 tsp Onion Powder
2.5 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
5 tsp Oregano
5 tsp Paprika
15 tsp Cumin
8 tsp salt
8 tsp pepper

Maybe everyone else already does this and I’m just late to the game, but if you’re running behind like me, here’s the recipe I used. (There are many different recipes to pick from – just check out Pinterest). Stuff like this makes me feel so domestic.

I used a pint sized, wide-mouth mason jar and this recipe fit in it perfectly. I use one to two tablespoons per pound of hamburger, depending on what I’m making (in addition to adding about a 1/3 cup of water to the meat).
