Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter (No substitutes)
  • 1 3/4 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (I use more)
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs (one at a time) and continue to mix.
  2. Add vanilla.
  3. Sift dry ingredients together and add to mixture.
  4. Spread 3/4 of the mixture into a greased jelly roll pan (will need to use fingers). I often spray my fingers with Pam Cooking Spray before spreading.
  5. Spread cherry pie filling onto dough. Drop remaining dough on top of the cherry pie filling in small portions (see picture).
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  7. When cool, drizzle with a simple powdered sugar frosting. (Powdered sugar, water and vanilla)
