August 22

Kylee DeBock / DeBock Harvesting

💕Family Time 💕

We made it to our last stop of the season, which is Powers Lake, North Dakota!

We  arrived here on August 13th, unloaded equipment and set up the campers.

We got up on Sunday morning and headed back to Hardin, Montana to get the second load of equipment.  We arrived in Hardin around 3:00 and got the combine loaded and headed over to the Uffelman’s around 6:00.

Renea and Gary always spoil us when we are in Hardin and they cooked us an amazing steak dinner that evening and we enjoyed visiting with them until around 9:30.  Its always so hard to say  “Goodbye”.

Monday morning, we headed back to Powers Lake and the trip went smoothly!

When we got to our farmer’s house and all the equipment unloaded, we went around and checked our fields.   We knew the crops would be behind because of the late plant date due to all the rain, but we were not expecting grass GREEN fields!

We did get to start cutting some peas a few days after we got here but only half the field was ready.  So, after cutting that part, we decided to take this last opportunity of down-time to take a small family vacation.

We packed up the camper and made a trip to Bismarck to watch the Outlaw Football game on Friday night. This was their first game of the season.  We spent the night there and on Saturday morning we headed to Medora! (after a shopping spree at ACME Tools)

Shopping spree

Medora is a hidden treasure in North Dakota nestled in the middle of the badlands by the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  There are lots of stores, plays, music and more. The biggest attraction is the Medora Musical and the Pitchfork Fondue Restaurant.

We went to these two places on Saturday evening after a fun-filled day at the stream which was located right behind our RV park!  The evening was a success as the kids both said they enjoyed it enough to go back.

Next time, I think we will do some hiking and maybe some bike riding on the trails.

Today is officially the boys’ last day of summer (August 22) as they will be starting school tomorrow and we become very shorthanded in the field.  Colston will be in 8th grade and playing his last year of junior high football.  Riggin will be in 5th grade and will be starting his first year of elementary football.  (he has his first practice today)

Football practice

We sure love having our boys in the field with us and we will definitely miss them. However, I LOVE football season so I am looking forward to watching both of my boys play this year.

Praying for all the students, teachers and faculty for all schools as we get geared up for another year!

God Bless,

Kylee DeBock
