I enjoyed the bullet journal presentation so much at the HarvestHER gathering, that I stopped at Hobby Lobby on the way home just to get some “supplies”😉
The menu pad in the picture, however, came from the shopping excursion we HarvestHER’s took to Ashland. Postscript was a great little book/coffee shop! We all left a little money behind there…
My present daily journal (which is 18 months) ends in June so I knew I would have plenty of time to “plan” and put my notes to practice. I decided to keep the menu on the fridge, for now, and work on the journal over the next few weeks (I plan to share 😊). There is something that feels good about keeping track and planning ahead. Adding your own artwork and ideas makes it all the more appealing to me. But even planning takes planning…lol, you know what I mean! Time will tell.
Here at the farm, we have started planting wheat in the fields and beyond that still seem to have a lot of irons in the fire. We have a partial crew here and, frankly, it may be all we need for our 2018 summer harvest. Wheat fields in the south are being adjusted by insurance companies and Mother Nature, daily. It truly changes on a daily/weekly basis. What I am reporting to you today could easily change even by tomorrow, be it with rain, heat, wind or a particular insurance company…the stages and growth of the crops vary from state to state and county to county.
Really, if you think about it, in the last few years the amount of rain actually changes from one neighbor to another.
We just keep moving forward as best as we can and will see (as always) what tomorrow will bring. I know we’re not the only harvesters in that boat.

This week, the cooking seemed to grab a gear…so to speak. I have tried new recipes (which were a hit) and started loading the freezer for quick and spontaneous meals. With the trucking we have lined up, the guys are leaving at different times during the day from early, early morning to late morning.
Here are some of the things I have made:
Strawberry Brownies
I, of course, double everything and tried something different with the frosting. I doubled the oil, eggs and cake mix.
I added fresh, cut-up strawberries to the batter:
Filled my cookie sheet.
And while baking, I decided to “ninja” some strawberries and added powdered sugar for the glaze!
Turned out perfectly and were gone in two days!
Then, Dylan showed me a video of a “pizza bomb” that he thought would be really good. So, I googled and tried them.
Pizza Bombs
Pretty simple ingredients:
Flatten and roll the biscuit.
Add your toppings.
Press first in cylinder shape.
Then tuck under to make “bun”.
Sprinkle with Italian seasoning. (I always think of Char…who worked for us a couple of seasons…when I use this. She got me hooked on that stuff)
And there you have it! Dip in a little Marinara sauce and they disappear!
I also made my favorite meatloaf this week.
The BEST Meatloaf
Again, simple ingredients.
My 9 x 13 pan sized meatloaf.
My meatloaf sauce (since the 80’s) recipe – a line of ketchup and Heinz 57 and then smear together!
Baked Beans
A little bacon, a little beans and we’re in!
Got the Meatloaf, the Baked Beans and the Strawberry Banana Bread cooking at the same time! Tracy, I thought of you with my oven picture (inside joke).
Today, I made 60 breakfast burritos, three dozen buns and three dozen peanut butter cookies. Supper is chicken wings and cheesy hash browns! I am ready to put my feet up but we keep moving forward and will see what tomorrow brings.
