Sometimes you look for a way to make an old standby a little different.
Today I chopped up a Star Crunch and added it to the brownie mix! After the mix was poured into the bowl, I realized I didn’t have enough vegetable oil. After being told by my daughter, Adrienne, and my friend, Bobby, I could use applesauce, I used butter. Turned out fine! The older I get, the more I seem to substitute 😝
Fall harvest 2017 officially started today (as in the reels were turning).
Beautiful Harvest Moon
Same field, different view.
Tonight’s supper was open-faced chicken, bacon, ranch sandwiches on toasted french bread with grapes and a big ‘ole secret ingredient brownie!
Nancy has been making the custom harvest journey with her husband, Myron, since 1982. In those early years of life on the road, she could be found in the combine or truck - along with any or all of their four children. These days, her time is mostly spent taking care of two campers, walking to the clothesline and back, cooking on the grill, paperwork in the office and windshield time in the cab of a pickup. Whatever it takes to “get ‘er done”! When Myron and Nancy aren't on the road, they call South Heart, North Dakota home.
