Spreading it Thin!
Hi everyone! Hope your fall harvest is going spectacular!💜
Our crew is spread out in three states and five different locations.
Shiann and I just finished our beans and a customer at home. We thought we had it all in the bag…well, being a HarvestHER, I should know better!! Our last day, I jumped in to run the combine while Shiann gobbled her lunch (I just sat in the buddy seat and steered). I will never make a mailman because I can’t drive very well on the wrong side!! Shiann pointed that out!! This is why I’m the truck driver and cart operator!! Lol
I jumped out to run the truck to the elevator and I smelled smoke. Everything went into high gear in my brain!! We called 911 and they got the fire out. It was some trash smoldering by the exhaust. We were very fortunate. The wind was blowing terrible and we could have burned half the county!! We finished up, got stuff moved and got the call – we were headed back to the Alliance area.
We are picking corn but still having some issues with moisture. Hopefully it dries down and we can get rolling!! We are in hopes of everything going good and being home for Thanksgiving.

1. Be ready to go at the drop of a hat...sometimes without a lunchbox.
2. Has removed the word impossible from her vocabulary!
3. Can hold a baby, take care of a toddler and drive a tractor or combine all at the same time.
4. Must be able to cook for a crew - large or small.
5. Must be able to read minds.
6. Must be able to banter with a parts man until he realizes you DO know what you're talking about.
7. Must be the entertainment director for those rainy days.
8. Be a wife, mom, friend, helper, cook, problem solver, taxi driver or extra crew hand at all times.
9. Can handle the call that makes you react, "You need what? When?" Dropping everything you're doing to make it happen.
10. At the end of the day say, "I really do love this life".
