Today was quite a great day with a couple of fun visitors!

I’d rather drive this big ol’ thing for fall!

The elevator we are hauling to!

This morning I got to ride for a bit in the combine with Turk and he had to quickly help a farmer with yield maps. I asked if I needed to get out at the end and he said, “No, you’re driving this”! Long story short, I’ve never picked corn before. I got a really quick lesson and out Turk went. Turk said to follow the rows but the corn went crazy! I could have sworn it was cross planted, Daniel thought maybe it was replanted and Turk thought it was goose necked (whatever that means😧).

In the middle of this excitement, Morgan Crabtree stopped by!! 😋 He is so darn nice! He hopped in for a round and I told him not to pay much attention to my bad driving since it was my first time picking corn and he just giggled and chatted away. And just for the record, even Morgan thought it was planted a little funky in a spot!

It was awesome getting to chat with him for a little bit and then Turk came to the field to take over. Alex came back at the same time and asked if this “damsel in distress” still needed saving or if Turk had it, lol.

We also had the guys from Capello come visit us today! They brought a header for us to try. It is supposed to really help with corn shattering on foggy or dewy mornings. While Turk was driving it, he could really tell an increase in his speed across the field. He thought it was a fun header to use and it was kind of fun to see something other than just green in the field. Watching the guys put this header back on its trailer was pretty neat, as well! I didn’t realize this company had originated from Italy! I thought that was a fun fact of the day. Not only was the header neat but so were the people with it. It was nice to see Ron again and we met Jared. Jared is one heck of a nice guy. He was so friendly and fun to talk to and we really look forward to seeing them at convention this year.

The noses fold completely back!

Such a neat piece of equipment and a few great people who came with it

It is that time of year again, IFTA is due. So, while waiting for a load (which we normally don’t have the luxury of waiting in corn for a load), I’ve been working on that.

I hope everyone is having a great fall harvest so far!!
