07/21/16 – Waiting on God in North Platte, Nebraska

Audra Zimmerman – Zimmerman Harvesting

Oh harvest life what can the newbie say? It’s a lot harder than Andy thought it would be. I am so grateful for all the HarvestHer’s that I have met, in person and via Facebook. Hopefully this winter at the USCHI convention, I will meet you in person.

Harvest update from North Platte. We arrived here a week ago Tuesday to harvest 200 acres. That should be a quick job, NOT. We started on Wednesday with more header problems and a 4 hour parts run to get a new belt. Last Thursday evening it rained, a lot. Rained again on Sunday. Well it’s Thursday and we are finally back to work. It’s a little muddy but the wheat is at 11.1% so we run it, mud and all.

I’m back to driving truck. The North Platte elevator is much easier to maneuver around in, so I’m giving it another try. Andy is better at running the combine on the muddy hills. He is trying to save me from combine frustrations.

We have been praying a lot. Trying to hear from God on where to go next, because we have no idea where to go from here, other than home to Ohio. The potential jobs just keep falling through. However, the checkbook will not allow us to go home and wait till fall harvest.
