Lindsey Sterkel – Deibert Harvesting (JKD Inc)
We got another sleep-in this morning which I can’t complain about! I got caught up on some laundry and paperwork this morning. After lunch, we got to cutting right away after maybe around a quarter to half an inch of rain at the field the night before.
Really, if you think about it really hard, some days harder than others going to the field in a way is like going to the spa!
I think I’m going to have to try this Amazon prime thing and get a camera cord shipped out in the next couple of days because it stinks not being able to get the pictures off my camera!
Today I got to ride in the combine with Turk quite a bit since we were so close to the bins we didn’t need all the trucks. We got some nice together time of me popping his little bubble, but I really enjoyed it! I have to say that’s one of my favorite places on harvest, is the buddy seat of Turk’s combine.
We were in what I thought was a somewhat hilly field today. We went in a couple of low spots and as I was screaming and leaning, Turk was saying that me leaning (pretty much out the door or almost in his seat) isn’t going to help much from keeping the combine from flipping over…I still leaned just as much but tried to keep the screaming to a minimum.
We got a good dent in the winter wheat today although we got a late start. Hopefully we will get on to spring wheat soon!
I hope everyone is staying safe and trying to enjoy the heat wave!
