The North Dakota ground is so very thirsty!

Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting, Inc.

On Monday, Cody went back home to our farm in North Dakota to swath most of our wheat crop. He did so with our combine. He’s been going a couple of days now and the 40 foot swaths will make it a little easier to bale. That’s right…to BALE, not to bin. Southwest North Dakota has been declared a disaster.

Temperatures in the upper 90’s are forecast for this weekend. There simply hasn’t been rain and without water, there is no growth and maturity of crops.

Cody said you could lose a cell phone in these cracks.

As Cody is cutting the wheat crop, JD is rolling over it to dry (old school). This will be baled within two days.

Myron, three members of the crew and I are currently cutting in Nebraska and will all be in South Dakota next week. Blessed with work! Myron has said that never has he seen such a widespread area (the fly-over states) in one year that has been touched by one extreme or another – from hail to drought, and disease. This affects so very many – and not just the harvesters. You can see it in small towns, and farms but also parts houses, implement dealers and even grocery stores…things are stressed.

Reality is there is little anyone could have done to stop this weather related sadness. Persevering through it is all we can do and pray for the strength to keep moving forward.
