In the last couple of weeks, I started walking again. It takes a few days but once you make up your mind to do it, you look forward to it.
With just Myron and I and the crew, there is no family get-away. Our kids have kids of their own and take their own “get-aways”.
Walking in small town America is my choice of vacation, so to speak. Everyone waves, the scenery is homemade, home-grown and shared for all. Your mind is relaxed and you appreciate your surroundings in the midst of a crazy world (if you watch a lot of news and television). You listen to birds singing, and can hear a ballgame in the midst. There are car motors, truck jake brakes as they head to the elevator or near a stop sign, and even the squirrels make a happy noise.
It truly is a Norman Rockwell kind of personal moment.š
Presently, I have been walking in Grant, Nebraska and also in our last stop of Sharon Springs, Kansas. I thought I’d share a few pictures. I really think I am soaking this all in because where we are headed (the Dakotas), it probably will be a bit more monotone.
“Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more important than they?”Ā Matthew 6:26
