This has been quite a year for the HarvestHER life!
Our first stop was North Kansas which was an average run. However we arrived, unloaded, parked campers and was gone. Within a week we were on the move again…but to where? We made a stop in Colby to pay a visit to fellow harvesters. No acres to cut, though, due to the weather.
No matter who you speak to, it’s the same story: “Hail took most”, “We are haying that for the cows”, “We bought a second combine”, “We never grew wheat this year due to the low commodity price”. The one that hurts the most, though, is when a fellow harvester lost acres due to another guy coming in and cutting for $4.00 an acre less.
Then comes to mind, a saying to live by:
You have to take the good with the bad, smile when you are sad., love what you got and
remember what you had. Always forgive but never forget, learn from mistakes but never
regret. People change, things go wrong. Just remember THE RIDE GOES ON!!!
The guys left this morning with two loads of equipment headed to Northern Nebraska. We have part of our crew in Atwood waiting to hear what is happening next. If crop is not ready and depending how far off, we may take our boys home. Two of them have offered to help me with my SHE SHED. I had the guys move an old wooden granary for me which I have cleaned up inside and hope to be able to fix it up soon. A place were I am hoping I can have some personal retreat time. A place where I can go and scream at the top of y lungs when things are not going right or a place where I can go reflect on life’s ups and downs.
So far, we are hearing positive things with our crops in Canada and will continue to pray that Mother Nature leaves them how they are.
