Kiowa holds a lot of special memories for me, as well as our kids. I remember our first camper was a ‘Vagabond’ (with no kids) and the crew was housed in an actual school bus. My wash machine, which I was pretty proud of, was a Maytag ringer washer!
We had Massey combines and a 1978 red and white single axle Chevy that I learned to drive.

As newlyweds, we had margaritas at The ‘Trax’ on the west side of Kiowa and I was completely in love with “Combine City USA”. Through the years our kids attended bible school, played ball, enjoyed the parks and swam at the pool! They grew up on the harvest and always loved Kiowa . I wouldn’t be surprised at the number of times they might have taken a dip in the pool in the dark . We enjoyed the community its shops and businesses and especially their support for the harvesters. We’ve prayed here, worked here, celebrated here and always looked forward to returning. Friendships were formed and will always be treasured.

I was 19, Laurie came and picked me up in her Chevy van, with a six pack of Coors light and we drove for hours. She never knew me but met Myron the previous year as he was in her shop to buy a t shirt for his girlfriend! (That be me!)

This lady went out of her way to make me feel at home and comfortable and we have been friends ever since. That’s what harvest does…it gives you friends and moments that are the fireflies in your soul forever!
