Nancy Eberts – Eberts Harvesting Inc.
When you think and talk about harvesting, pictures of equipment (all colors, shapes and sizes) as well as crops of all varieties pops into your head. There are videos and pictures that show everything working and lined up with a beautiful background sunset. They simply take your breath away! It is true, those pictures are real but there is so much more involved in this life of harvesting. Unless you actually go on harvest and complete the run, you may never understand.
HarvestHER does a wonderful job of letting those of us on this journey explain our days and nights. It’s the next best thing!!!
2017 will be one of those years that will be talked about for a while. Mother Nature has made an impact and areas affected are strung out across these flyover states. It’s not over, by any means, but it is being felt.
With that being said, I want to share my wonderful day-trip on June 13, 2017 to Kiowa and what it has meant to me.
In all of the years combining, transporting equipment, hiring crews, breakdowns, mud, and the harvest life in general…it’s the friendships that make it all worthwhile!
These are the true gifts/benefits of what Myron and I do.
I got in my pickup and headed to Kiowa yesterday to visit some girlfriends. I needed it. I know enough that taking care of me is as important as a clean camper and book work. What a gift! They encouraged me, made me laugh (and cry) and by the time I got back to the camper and made supper for the guys, all was good in my soul.
Keith and Janie are ROCKS!
Years of love and support for our family and to our business. It just keeps getting better. Forever grateful!
Daphne and hubby (missing in photo), Brad, are extended family. She’s been there EVERY year with a smile not only for us but for our kids, as well! Watching her family grow now is beyond cool!
Ginny and her late husband live just across from where we used to park our equipment. They always waited and greeted us when we arrived. They even kept an eye on things for us! Ginny has called Myron and I on our anniversary EVERY year on the date…never missing it once! That’s a lot of phone calls! She keeps me humble.
Laurie…oh man, where do I start? I was 19, married and on my first harvest. She picked me up with a six-pack of Coors Light in a Chevy van and within minutes we were forever friends. She thanks Myron for coming into her shop to buy me a t-shirt in 1981! We’ve grown together, watched our families grow, our lives change and we keep moving forward. We only see each other once a year and we have the kind of friendship that all the Hallmark cards talk about!
Here we were discussing moving our heads forward to eliminate the double chins!
Amanda…although I have known her for only a few years, I know that we will always be friends! Her complete honesty, courage and forthright personality are simply contagious. Not to mention the love of what she does. It is a spark that keeps me a very happy and content HarvestHER!
Miss Jill…always a smile, always a hug and always full of cheer! A lady who has always supported our line of work! Wouldn’t you know I needed to run into her to catch that sparkle!
The grocery store in Kiowa (IGA) holds tons of memory’s – so many, I simply can’t name them all. As a HarvestHER, the grocery store is the place you could spend hours, you’re appreciated, acknowledged, and always run into someone you know.
Amanda stopped quick on her way to deliver supper to the field to get a picture of US! How cool is that?! She even carried a bag of groceries out to make sure I wouldn’t run off! Harvest hair made no difference!
There are countless women who have made our harvest journey SO worthwhile, I couldn’t possibly name them all, but I always include them in my prayers.
Today (06/14), we were movin and rollin! Southwest Kansas wheat harvest…today and through the weekend, the temps will be in the upper 90’s and whatever is green will be turning fast!
