Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting

Have you ever had one of those days where you wished you’d just stayed in bed…well that was my day a few days ago! We started the day with the sound of rain on the camper…which was okay because we finished our job the night before and so we took this chance to get an extra hour of sleep.😴 The 17 and 18 hour days had caught up to all of us.

Once up and around we find that our crew camper AC and fridge aren’t working. So we call an electrician. He comes out and checks the pole. The pole is wired wrong!! It is sending twice the amount of juice as it should be. EVERYTHING in the camper is fried!! So boys all pack their bags and move into our camper. All seven of us, one big happy family! My little boys are loving this idea!

We hook up my camper and head to Waynoka which is only 28 miles. Pretty easy move! Right?? WRONG!

After I get my camper set up in its new location I get a call from my husband saying he needs the service truck. The drive belt on our S67 has broken. It can’t move…hints the word “DRIVE” belt. So we pull out our triangles and place them behind the combine, and start taking off the old belt. I call the Gleaner dealership for a part; luckily, they have one. We have to make two trips to get everything moved so we decide to head back to Alva to get the rest. Then Dillon will head to get the part. I am now headed to Harper, Kansas to drop of my FRIED camper! ⚡️ I get there with no problems! Yea! Something going my way! Decide to treat myself and the little boys to some ice cream. 🍨

I call to check on Dillon to see if combine is fixed and off the highway. He sighs and says our problems just got worse!! Some one ran into the augur!! I gasp…how do you not see a 14.5 ft combine in broad daylight?! Rrrggg! 😡

Dillon gets the new belt put back on and drives it to the farmers house where he begins to tear it apart. PRAISE GOD 🙏 the auger itself is not bent. Dillon was able to fix the auger tube and all is well. Only thing we had to buy was the spout!

Note to self…if this happens again pull combine off the road completely!!

Happy Harvesting!!

God Bless,
