Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting

As harvest was getting close, I had lots of things to still finish up.
I picked up my Sam’s order on the 2nd and was so happy when it all fit in my camper. On the 5th, we took our first load to Alva without a hitch. Sun was shining but the humidity was horrible. After unloading equipment, we enjoyed a nice meal at the Mexican restaurant. We got home about 10:30 and I enjoyed my last REAL shower! I was tired but, unfortunately, I just couldn’t sleep.

My oldest son’s cat, Violet, had been missing for a week and I was just having a hard time leaving on harvest not knowing where she was. The worst feeling is wondering if she is okay and if she comes back home, no one will be there and she will feel abandoned. I just feel AWFUL!
But, morning came and it was time to load equipment and head to Alva with our second load. The first trip went off without a hitch but the second was quite eventful. Somewhere between my County Road and the truck stop where we stopped for lunch, Zoe, our dog, jumped out of my pickup. I was devastated!!  We just got Zoe in February and my boys were ecstatic. They had wanted a dog for years! And they were instantly in love with her…we all were she is a great dog!! So I turn my pick up and camper around and headed back to my house. I parked the pick up and camper and got in my SUV and started driving the roads. I stopped at every house and gave my number to everyone. Riggin and I drove a bit then got out and walked, calling for her. Riggin was so upset and he just kept saying, “Oh poor Zoe, poor Zoe”.  It broke my heart seeing his sad, little face.
I called my mother-in-law and she was there in a flash to help us look! She was driving all the side roads while we stayed on the highway. Luckily, our persistence paid off! Two hours later, I got a phone call from a lady I had left my number with! Praise God she was not hurt at all. When we got there, she ran right to me. Needless to say, she rode to Alva inside the pickup.
I got the camper all set up and took dinner out to the field and boy was Colston happy to see his dog! Dillon said he cried all the way to Alva. Praise the Lord for a happy ending!! Unfortunately, the wheat cutting was short-lived; only cut about 50 acres before it started raining. So now we will be impatiently waiting for warm, dry weather!

I pray that, wherever you are, you are surrounded by loving friends and family enjoying life on the road.

God bless,

Kylee DeBock
