Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting

Well, there is a first time for everything!

We have been harvesting for 14 years and we haven’t ever been home on Memorial Day weekend! So, we took advantage of the day.

Our church holds two services – one at 9:00 and one at 10:30. We took advantage of the early service and after church enjoyed a brunch at a local Restaurant. We then headed to the lake, where we enjoyed fishing and swimming!

The water was a bit rough, due to all of the boat activity so no fish were caught, but the boys still had lots of fun! The water was cold, but we all got in anyways and enjoyed some real summer activities. As you all know we don’t get much opportunity to enjoy the “normal” summer fun like most people. After swimming, we enjoyed playing some baseball, as well! There is just something so relaxing about being at the lake. It’s like your stress melts away and you can actually relax and have fun!

Both kids ended up going home with Mimi. So, Dillon and I headed home and had some quality time together…checking fields and working on the combine! Unfortunately, we had a storm roll through a few nights ago that had high winds and ping pong ball sized hail. Dillon figures, by the looks of the ground, it will be a 5-8 bushel per acre loss! It is so heartbreaking just a week before it’s ready to harvest! We harvest wives don’t get a lot of quality time so you take advantage of what you get and make the best of it! Whether it’s checking fields or helping work on the combine, at least you get some time together.

Hope everyone is having a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend! Let’s not forget to say our prayers for those amazing men, women and their families who have sacrificed so much so we can enjoy the life we are so blessed with having!

God Bless,
Kylee DeBock
