Myron and the guys are moving south with some of the machines today. I will join them in a week or so. It’s well over 1,000 miles to our starting point in southwest Oklahoma.
One of the interesting and educational points about this trip is there is a virtual (as in…look out your window) look at crop growth. Here at home, the wheat is just coming up and only inches tall. By the time they get to our first stop, the wheat is golden and ready to harvest. We have Hard Red Spring Wheat planted and we are heading into winter wheat but, nevertheless, the road trip and watching the wheat growth is pretty fun to see. This happens all in less than three days.

Nancy has been making the custom harvest journey with her husband, Myron, since 1982. In those early years of life on the road, she could be found in the combine or truck - along with any or all of their four children. These days, her time is mostly spent taking care of two campers, walking to the clothesline and back, cooking on the grill, paperwork in the office and windshield time in the cab of a pickup. Whatever it takes to “get ‘er done”! When Myron and Nancy aren't on the road, they call South Heart, North Dakota home.
