Kylee DeBock – DeBock Harvesting
I can NOT believe it is May already! I think it comes faster every year – at least it sure seems to. Dillon has been hard at work with harvest preparations and the boys are counting down the days for school to be out! Our last day is May 9th, I have truly enjoyed my job but, I am ready for summer too.
Even though May is not known for snow, we have seen pictures on the news and social media of the devastation. Last night, my friend, (which is also the farm manager’s wife) for a farm we cut for last year in Kansas, sent me a picture of their yard. Her caption, “Hard to believe we get a snow day from school on May 1st”. Yikes! That is a lot of snow for JANUARY…let alone May! I will be praying for the farmers that lost crops and harvesters that lost work. Harvest is stressful enough as it is…let alone having to start the year off in a panic wondering how you will fill the lost acres! (“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 NLT)
Luckily where we live, we only got rain which ended up being the reason both our son’s soccer games were canceled this weekend! But we were ok with that. We have been so busy; we welcomed a day at home. Dillon fixed us breakfast, we watched movies, played games, and that afternoon I made some very yummy Snickerdoodle Muffins! It was a great and much-needed family day!
May God Bless your harvest run this year with a bountiful crop but more importantly safety for your family and crew! Make sure you take time to stop and smell the roses!
